Starting at first with a periodic one-on-one coaching of the director as an entrepreneur in the set-up of the NGO, the supervision shifted later to the project development strategy, various processes, the network development and the employment of staff to today’s 6 full-time equivalents (FTE). The idea of the CEE Tuzla came from dipl. Ing. Dzemila Agic during her internship abroad at the department of environmental protection and energy of the canton Baselland (Switzerland) in 2000. The project became reality and could open its doors under her leadership in September 2001, thanks to the fundraising of the newly created Swiss Friends’ Association.

Today, the center finances itself to the bigger part independently of the Swiss Friends’ Association through own acquisition. It is the leading, acknowledged ecological reference in Bosnia-Herzegovina and beyond.
